Uses Medicinally:
Lavender flower possesses a relaxing and floral aroma, and its use is well documented in traditional western herbalism. Dried lavender flowers have been used for potpourri blends, as a cooking or baking spice, and incorporated into body care recipes for aromatherapy.
Lavender was reported to have been used in a concoction called Four Thieves Vinegar during the Great Plague of 1665 by grave robbers. The story goes that they would wash their hands in this concoction, which contained lavender, wormwood, rue, sage, mint, and rosemary, and vinegar and would rarely become infected.
English folklore also suggests that a mixture of lavender, mugwort, chamomile, and rose petals will attract sprites, fairies, brownies, and elves.
